The CrackleBox is a portable, amplified, electroacoustic “keyboard” that makes some funky sounds. It was first created by Michel Waisvisz in the late 60s. It is an astable oscillator that generates different sounds based on a body’s interaction with the circuit.
While STEIM has sold these for awhile, a number of artists have “reverse engineered” the CrackleBox, designing a circuit that generates similar sounds to the original.
We’re gonna make one of our own based on available documentation.
